January Favourites

Hello everyone, after a lot of you asked for more lifestyle content this year, I thought I would start a new series of monthly favourite posts to share a bit more of my life with you all! This month was mostly spent in the library revising for exams so you will see my favourite things this month all definitely follow a comforting and relaxing theme - exams are stressful people.

Reading

Intuitive Eating - This has been on my to-read list for so long and it has seriously changed my views on nutrition and healthcare. At university we have always been taught that excess weight is a serious health risk and that dieting and exercise was the approach to fix that. The truth is that diets rarely work long-term and just fuel an unhealthy relationship with food and your body. Intuitive eating is all about getting in touch with your body's hunger and fullness signals and just eating in the normal, nourishing way that our bodies are designed to do and forgetting about our desires to lose x number of pounds.. I thoroughly recommend this to other people in the healthcare field, or people who are struggling with food as it is an eye-opening approach.

Listening

SG Lewis - the perfect mellow revision music to keep me relaxed and focused in the library. I have also been listening to the Food Psych podcast in the car and Christy Harrison is seriously amazing when it comes to discussing the psychology around food!

Doing

One of my goals for 2018 was to get back in to pilates and I am LOVING it. I have moved up to the intermediate class and it is genuinely one of the best workouts I have ever done, my core feels so much stronger and it is so relaxing.

Eating

I have eaten a lot of pasta this month, like seriously a lot. Pasta is the ultimate comfort food to me so this cold weather and the stress of exams has made me crave pasta like no other.  I have been eating my Kale and Brazil Nut Pesto with tagliatelle and it is perfection. I have also had an obsession with apple anything this month which you may have noticed on my instagram. Apple on toast, with oats, on pancakes, apples with everything.

Using

This L'oreal charcoal face wash was a discovery this month and I adore it. It leaves my skin feeling so clean but still soft and hydrated and my skin has been strangely clear despite the stress. Another discovery this month was the Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation, it is beautiful. It applies like a dream, stays all day and looks fab in photos, I don't know why I haven't tried it sooner!

Watching

My mum and I watched both seasons of Stranger Things this month and loved it! I also have watched an unhealthy amount of Grand Designs, which if you know me, you will know that it is just standard.

Celebrating

Exams being over!! My last full set of exams ever and I couldn't be happier. I have also had some amazing freelance opportunities come my way this month and I am so grateful!

Following

My fellow course mate, Kirstin has an amazing blog that I have been reading and loving this month.
